Citi will never get rid of performance reviews- it’s how the org has a hold of you, cultivates a culture of fear and sets good people up to fail for standing up against bad managers and bad things.
It’s also why the paperwork side for employees is so cumbersome and long-winded. And why the performance ratings are set by managers several weeks before you enter your self- assessment in the system. It’s just favouritism- pure& simple. You are only safe as long as favourtism lasts.
Lots of people are about to be set up to fail in this performance cycle- be ready to stand your ground….
Unless you're in a revenue generating department or are a quantitative model developer, you're going to be competing for and fighting over whatever Bonus money is leftover after Revenue-generators and Quant developers are paid their bonuses first.
So basically, bread crumbs and peanuts "Bonuses". I've only experienced this in Citi and that's why I'm Quitting.
Waste of effort. Calibration for my team happened before the deadline for self evaluation. Some adjustments but mostly everyone is flat 3’s.
Just like ‘goal’ setting.
Really, i just make reports all day.
I dont need a goal to shadow someone higher up when they know darn well nothing will ever come of it.
Performance review is BS. Heard few companies GE, Deloitte, and Gap have eliminated performance reviews
I love that in the managers review there’s a minimum character count (unsaid how many). Yeah I figured that character count out pretty quickly in middle school when submitting an essay only it was a word count…
The worst part is hitting those business evaluation pointers they need. I have no idea how to answer those since I am on the tech side and told what to do for my daily work.
Yep I had a meeting with my boss yesterday and she told me they already know what they are going to do, we just need to get our self evaluations in so they can button it all up
Year end reviews are nothing more than a corporate driven task that generates zero value to employees and the organization. It’s simply a task that needs to be completed yearly to make upper management feel proud of themselves for all the accomplishments by all these wonderful employees. The appreciation of your hard work is measured by the worthless compensation you receive.
Esp when they agreed the rankings before we submit our reviews!
