Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Next week is the end times

Hi folks. While on a weekend spelunking with my really high contact she confided in me that next week is going to be a bloodbath for IT. The information she gave to me has the potential to affect everyone at Dell.

Apparently there has been a major breakthrough in AI that could have a major impact in replacing human employees. The plan is to roll this out and essentially hand the running of the company over to the newly developed AI.

As far as she could tell the new mandates on RTO have been suggested by chatgpt after HR asked it how we could improve productivity. Management then ran with this single suggestion and will continue to force people back to their desks.

The ultimate plan is to market this new AI in an attempt to force a sale of the company to Google or MichaelSoft.

I think it’s safe to say there are dark times ahead.
Please use this time to hold your loved ones

Here’s Chat GPT’s response to your post… Even it doesn’t believe you LOL

  1. AI's Role in Business: AI is indeed becoming increasingly integrated into various industries, including IT. However, the notion that it will completely replace human workers is not universally accepted. Many experts believe that AI will augment human roles rather than fully replace them.
  1. Management Decisions: Suggesting that management decisions, such as return-to-office (RTO) mandates, stem from a single AI suggestion may oversimplify the complexities of corporate decision-making.
  1. Speculative Claims: The idea that there's a "major breakthrough" in AI or a plan to sell the company based on AI recommendations can sound sensational. While advancements in AI are ongoing, significant shifts in corporate strategy typically involve extensive planning and consideration, not just a single input from an AI tool.
  1. Emotional Response: The phrase "dark times ahead" can evoke fear, but it's essential to balance such sentiments with a rational understanding of the situation.

If by "ChatGPT" you mean Bain or McKinsey.
Cuts and uncomfortable, nonsense rules are being done to push out headcount and avoid as much severance as possible. It's stupid, shortsighted, and damaging to our brand. So, of course, our leadership is doing it.
