If your department was moved under another department..
If you have same level reporting to same level.... you're a director with a director under you and your salary is higher ....
If you're only doing one thing...that can be done cheaper...
If you've been here more than 10 years...
If there is no funding for your glamour project...
If what you're doing can be handled by a third party vendor or contract..
If your job can be outsourced...

You may want to see the writing on the wall...
This is standard in layoff culture..

Aetna centric layoffs.. December 15th is the estimated target notice date.. time enough to allow the blow back from the QTR3 financial results to cool a bit and for some time between the October 1 layoffs while David gets about 45 days in..

Rule 1: Blame everything on the CEO before me.

Rule 2: Don't change a thing.

Rule 3: Get paid.

Rule 4: Retire again.

there won't be anyone left to do the work if they cut 5k. We were slim before but now it's just ridiculously stupid.

There's trimming the fat in Medicare but I think it's a mistake to layoff the Negotiators. Karen's right hand lady has been working hard on Medicare contracting and trying to fix corrupted data that affects claims and network adequacy. It won't work though as long as Aetna keeps prolonging standardization of operations and their data.
Aetna has to remain competitive with the other MCOs. Right now they're leading fourth for MAPD. Aetna and Kaiser keep going back and forth dethroning each other.
