Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

RTO announcement this week

Clarification on hybrid : 3 days mandatory, 2 days expected but with flexibility where needed.

Remote : expectation for remote workers to attend the office but not mandatory. There is a requirement to attend training and collaboration sessions which will increase in FY26.

New software is planned for monitoring workload and online activity on all below director level.

Take it or leave it.

"tracking laptops as well as forcing more office time is a strange combo. if im in the office im having more f2f convos and less laptop time."

They won't just track that you are using your laptop, but will be able to monitor what you are doing on the laptop. If you are doing anything whatsoever that violates Dell's policies, then you can be let go for cause....no severance

5 days in? Ok, first thing I gonna do is getting an office locker where I can leave my laptop. Then, come at 9am, leave at 6pm, use full time allowance for lunch. And blocking all calls our of business hours. This game can be played by both parties.

@1ohy+1v4h7fc8 that's a bit in contradiction with OP's post

It’s pretty simple. Covid is over and so is remote work. At least for people within an hour of the office. It was good while it lasted.

So scannell will be coming out saying he was wrong in his previous email about everyone being in 5 days a week? I doubt it

Non field people leaders have to move to a site or become individual contributors

They are going to ask remote within x distance of site to come in and will be classified as hybrid . TBD on remote outside radius . Everyone else is expected 5 days and 6 hours a day starting Jan . Company does not want remote unless they are field .

Sweet deal for us remotes !

Hybrids will have to be on-site for a full day. No more 8 -noon.
The AI bot software deployed tracks key strokes, lag time, teams "do not disturb " time and the popular mouse enhancement movers. Time thieves should be worried.

Notice the wording.
Hybrids are expected to come in 5 days a week with 3 being mandatory. The other 2 days are considered "where needed" and no longer a given. You see the slight of hand?

They still are flip-flopping with remotes. They are going to force them into office more with 'training' and 'collaboration' sessions. In other words, these will be struggle sessions.

It should be obvious to everyone they want RTO 5days. They are just inching towards that goal.

Surely this will give them more problems. The 'expectation' part will result in some remote folk struggling to go in. The 'not mandatory' part will result in people like me and others not going in. This will then become a problem with fairness and issue for people managers.

If I owned corporate real estate, I would want everyone back into the office and get it stabilized enough to unload it. Unless of course these corporations expect everything to go back to pre-covid days. Either way they're taking directions from higher authority.

"Remote : expectation for remote workers to attend the office but not mandatory."

This is beyond mo--nic and makes zero sense. So remote folks nowhere near an office are expected to what....fly to an office a few days a month? 😆🖕

Is good in terms that is not worse than what is in place at least…assuming all restrictions to remotes remain (promotions / moves)?

Lmao bootlickers saying this is reasonable and good? Requiring adults to go into office so they can watch us??

That doesn’t make sense. 3 days mandatory but 2 expected?

I hope this is true. I think that is a reasonable ask. Better than a mandatory five days RTO policy.
