Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

It is going to be a rude awakening once AI reality becomes obvious

There is a saying that AI isn’t good enough to replace people yet but they are being replaced by people who use AI. That might be true elsewhere. But Dell is all smoke and mirrors and run by absolute id--ts who think AI is just magic and in any case they will continue laying people off and managing them out regardless of AI’s lack of capabilities because virtue signaling to investors is more important than reality. It is going to be a rude awakening when they realize AI can’t solve for a mountain of dirty data and docs. But nobody is willing to tell this to bosses who don’t want to hear no and are just itching to lay people off.

Came across this at @ufv+1v3NpzWk. This should be repeated over and over again.

Dell has always been 10 years too late to enter the market.. Cloud, and the ridiculous move to only sell Dell accessories. Really did they really think they could compete with logitech etc.. id--ts

I'm wondering if they know the bubble is about to implode and the execs believe they will get US tax payer funded bailouts. The more people they push out now the more government freebies they can pocket when welfare for the rich comes back again.

Yeah but the problem is they THINK they can cut enough people to make low margins profitable, or at least get a few more cycles of pump and dump out of the share price before investors fully admit the AI bubble has popped. There seriously are a lot of top execs who believe Dell is doing AI stuff or at least paying vendors for it. They think it can enable them to produce and sell more for cheaper without the humans. Many know it’s BS but the bubble is going to have to pop from outside for them to face the music. There simply is no appetite to hear the truth.

The real problem is that Dell has zero substantive IP relevant to AI. The only AI they ship is Nvidia or AMD’s IP. Margins on the servers will continue to erode and Dell won’t be able to cost-cut enough people to make up for that.
