Those working for the MPPs How do you feel about the upcoming changes?

What changes? Some must know more than others and comments confirm consultant layoffs. I’m curious about the changes but not surprised about MPP layoffs. The writing has been on the wall for the last year… a suffocating pipeline = no work.
To those asking what MPPs are: As another poster said, MPPs are deals with healthcare systems. A healthcare system rebadges employees from certain areas of its organization, such as revenue cycle and/or IT, to Optum. They become Optum employees, but continue to carry out work for their former employer as part of a contract for services. This arrangement is supposed to save the healthcare org money and benefit Optum. It’s been a money sink for Optum. Optum announced the MPP support structure will change, and staff roles will change. They’ll support other Optum customers, etc.
To answer the poster’s question: I think there will be layoffs as Optum absorbs MPP staff into the new structure. I don’t think the timing of the restructuring announcement for the MPPs is coincidental. IMO in the long term Optum is going to pare down MPP staff, hire cheaper Indian or Irish employees, then have remaining MPP “knowledge transfer” to the cheap labor. It’ll be a mess and a complete joke, but because this is what Optum makes of anything it touches now. As a company Optum has no clue how an actual healthcare org runs, so it’s laughable it even tried this.
In my opinion, DS should be the first person let go. Everybody working MPPs knows exactly who she is.
MPP = Market Performance Partnership, which are deals with health systems stating Optum can do work for them cheaper than the health systems can do it themselves.
The recent meetings indicate the MPPs are in significant trouble. Solution Design really hosed everything with unrealistic commitments.
