Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Main reasons for Un-Intelligent's downfall

Intel's downfall reasons;

  1. Nepotism based on Nationality.
  2. Duped into buying worthless going bankrupt companies at 5-10x revenue/value/potential (Mobileye, Nervana, Habana, DSP Communications, Wind River, McAffee, Altera,

(https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_mergers_and_acquisitions_by_Intel). Someow Israel knows how to dupe/coerce/cazzole/force Intel's $$.

  1. Attitude that Oregon(RA, JF) TMG/TD/Design is the "center of the universe". Everyone else is just amature.
  2. DEI and ~4months of bonding leave.
  3. Too many sites w no direct connection to product/external customers.
  4. Upper Management has no foresight. They r clueless.
  5. Too many PEs. Senior PEs doing grade 8 work or less and getting ~$250K/yr compensation! There are PE managers w 10 employees to manage and no patents!
  6. Nepotism.
  7. Very bad and incompetent HIP teams!
  8. All around complex, beauracratic, cumbersome process in design, arch, decisions, layout, production etc. Again too many PEs, Senior PEs butt in to delay the process.

Lastly, very bad CEO (see below):
AMD is in the rear view mirror.
We’ll get lucky just like Nvidia.
We make better chips than that lifestyle company.
I’ve bet the company on 18A.
We’ve reached the bottom!
More interested in Bible Theology than reality/market.
IFS is not going to take single dime from the Govt but then brags about getting/securing ~$10 billion from Govt!

100% agree. The nepotism is crazy. And they boast about it. They brag about how they have nothing to do and get steady paychecks. Rig the system to hire family members, people from their own community. It is very open and Intel's number 1 reason for the downfall.

What PE or Sr PE gets 250K per year? G10 PEs and above are easily 350K plus in CA. Too much

From Merom to Broadwell, competition didn't show up. Remember, Skylake PoR had zero performance features (just AVX3). 5% performance CAGR was "good enough" because it wasn't like those yahoos at PASemi Apple bought were going to build something that could compete with the IDC or JF4 design teams, right? AMD? In their grave. ARM, who cares!

The quality was abysmal (from device technology to uarch to FW) - just look at the PRT post-mortem sharepoint (if it still exists). The quality issues scared the living cr-p out of customers and wanted alternatives. Once competition showed up with viable alternatives, it was game over for Intel.
