Have the layoffs started?

Inquiring minds would like to know.

What departments will be impacted by 17k of the employees terminated?

Ever since the stupid merger in the late 1990’s, St Louis has been a thorn in the side of Boeing. Why o why was 777X configuration or program management moved from Everett to St Louis??? What do they even know about commercial airplanes? Should focus the layoffs there and be done with the McDonnell Douglas merger mistake.

I must agree. They bring the company no value.

There have been reports (Reuters) that one of the priorities is to minimize cash outlay from severance payments. To me that signals that managers (who, presumably, have been there longer) will be deprioritized in favor of newer employees.

I would start with all Managers, (especially senior) that have no employees reporting to them.

I’d say Boeing HR and Boeing Ethics Departments are first up to take a big cut.
Then I think Boeing’s going to focus on Managers and reduce their rants considerably.

Next up for a hair/cut will be Boeing non-Union sites like Charleston and Saint Louis which is loosing money on both their military planes back there.

Probably a lot of managers can be cut at Boeing without many people, those that are left noticing they are gone. Boeing is noticeably top heavy with managers with not much to do besides sign time cards.
