managers keep getting promoted but $ show the opposite trend. shows where their priorities are. we at ulterra dont even worry about hdbs anymore. if their product performs which is rare, we know the management will self-destruct. glad to have gotten out of a sinking ship.
In regards to the roller cone comment: about 4-5 years ago HDBS made a push to get into the completion bit space which is 99% 4 5/8” roller cone in NAL (scattered with some 4 1/2”, 3 3/4” and 3 7/8”). That lasted about a month or two - huge failure. Everyone knows Varel and JZ run that show. Hal likes the me-too game and thinks reps are going to take the entire strategy and do it all themselves. Saying “we want to be in the completion bit space” is not a strategy. It’s a statement. SBMs don’t do their jobs, and get out there and show face. They hide internally and make sure Richard thinks they are doing their job internally. Ofcourse…it failed.
well they already got rid of roller cone, matrix is on the way out, i give it a few more years if that.
Surprised HDBS is still a PSL. All I hear is Ulterra, Hughes, NOV, Smith, Torex and several others continually kick Security’s butt. I’m not surprised either. Hal has a special way of running good businesses into the ground. Probably won’t be long until they will no longer have any NAL presence.
