Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Insight on layoffs

What’s the latest chatter? I’ve heard a mix of rumors over the past few days, some true, others not. If anyone in the upper levels has any inside knowledge about what's going to happen, it’d be helpful to give us a heads up. After all, this is all anonymous.

Apple is going away. Company cares about auto and compute. All hiring is in non modem, even the good ones have moved away from systems. What makes you think modem is not on the chopping block?

I also think annual layoffs will become the norm and this wouldn't be so different from what's happening at other places. Company keeps overhiring, annual layoffs of the lower rated folks keeps this at bay and ensures best potential remains. Can't grow the employee base continuously without making adjustments.

Target is 7% reduction across the entire org. Anyone with a 1 or 2 in this review cycle will be shown the door.
