My team hired an staff engineer during this lay off.
This staff engineer has been a program manager for 10 years for another group and was laid off during this round.

This is a fact.
The new portion was in entirely different org but.
Although layoffs happened last month there was it still lot of open positions
cannot rehire.
Ridiculous. Surely someone is peddling blatant rumors. Someone who is laid off cannot be called back so soon.

Isn’t there a hiring freeze in the U.S.? How could that happen? I heard not long ago that REQ must not be filled unless it is critical.
