Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

For those ISPed, what to say to interviewer

Mention ISP?

Is ISP all based on performance or many are affected by teams being eliminated and soon?

I've never had a hiring manager ask why I left a previous job

You can say you too VSP because you didn't believe in the direction of the company and want to work for another company that valued team work and collaboration. Given the state Intel is in, I don't think potential employers will penalize people that voluntarily left. I don't think they have any way to know whether anyone actually left voluntarily since VSP, ISP, and ERP timeline are all so close to each other.

Do not mention! Those who got fired today are fu---d. Pretend you are employed until you land next role

Dude you were laid off because your CSM didn’t align with our future. Just share this with your potential new employer!

Don't come in the office, don’t work more than 30 hours a week, don’t response to Teams in less than a minute or two between 7am and and 10pm, don’t work every Sunday, took more than one piece of fruit a day.

You don’t have the right stuff

ISP is not necessarily based on performance, some cuts are just cuts for best fit. It may be good to have a reasonable response IF an interviewer asks, but even then they may just want to know what kind of attitude you have and how you deal with challenges.

Absolutely do not mention ISP, layoff, etc. my current company wouldnt even hire an analytics guy that took the VSP because they knew the VSPs had to be approved and were therefore not necessarily top performers

Well-now that all depends. Is this an interview for another job Or an interview on CNN about why Intel's firing everyone while still accepting government handouts?

It is not possible for Intel to have adequately defined and measured performance such that it could confidently identify and terminate the lowest 15,000. Intel has a hard enough time doing anything right at the moment. Most employers are going to give you the benefit of the doubt in this regard. I would focus on your references which more and more companies are returning to. Just say your role was eliminated in a mass layoff.

Tell them it was voluntary. Not like they can ask Intel what happened.

Tell them you got let go" for no better reason than to make quarterly results look good!
