Where do we go from here? Can’t compete on processors, can’t compete on GPU/AI. Provide foundry services to who and for what? If the world is moving away from x86, what’s going to drive profitability in the future?

Like the Man said, you aren't in the loop.
X86 will continue to decline like Kodak film and analog cell phones. I don't need an MBA to understand that having a large portion of your product based upon a single architecture is high risk especially in the high tech world.
Yep. I can do all of my work on my iPhone. Outlook, teams, spreadsheets ect. People can't wait to get rid of Windows OS and X86 will die with it.
We still act like we are the only alternative. Look at the 2024 laptop lineup. We are the only X86 out of many newer fancier CPUs and Intel is defiantly not the first choice. Oh and for you old fu--s making decisions at Intel, Windows is not the only operating system in the world anymore.
Legacy old technology is still existed in one small corner of the market for older senior people or non tech id--ts as other advance technologies will win the mind and heart of new age tech generations.
Wintel x86 Legacy !
New code methods at your door boomers !
interactive inputs thus creative internet sharing outputs !
No legacy scripting layers ! Voice and Video inputs into code apps !
x86 Wintel is a bugged out clash !
New frontiers ahead ! x86 leave behind !
Rusty old battleship ! Ditch MS now !
ProductCo will face serious challenges to profitability. Looking at the dwindling client market, inferior AI product and oems designing their own chips, any prospect of profitability is all but doomed.
x86 is fine. Too many legacy machines and other stuff runs on x86 for it to die. Also, ARM as desktop CPU su-ks big time.
Backed into a corner with only one option. That’s our leadership Great work Pat.
X86 is on slow path to extinction like the Doo Doo bird. It is inferior on MIPs / watt and MIPs / mm^2 die area and so the fate and decline are only limited by monopoly and inertia.
Now you see why PG has been pushing so hard on foundry. The design side has a limited life. There is no new architecture in pipe and quantum computing is way out in the future. Foundry might have a chance to survive.
If you don't know, then you are out of the loop.
