Thread regarding Ford layoffs

We have world class engineers here

Good job, mechanical engineers!
Who is the highly regarded individual that approved this mo--nic design? Let’s see who tried to defend this “design choice”

This pretty much sums up why in machine design thy teach you that rubber belts and oil do not mix and the Ecoboost is garbage.

Sorry PFI had the belt drive balance shaft. Gear drive for turbo version

Sorry I get a little sore about some topics. NA designed the first prototype engine phase with chain drives for cams and balance shaft. UK took over and made balance shaft drive a belt😡

I stand corrected. I was looking from a vehicle team perspective, not engine engineering. Thank you for showing me the light. I wish my manager would take the time to correct my mistakes like you did. Instead of shrugging it off and sharing brainrot on tiktok.

  1. 5L eco boost was designed in the UK genius.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but the NA Escape and Bronco Sport uses the 3-cylinder ecoboost. I understand that it has an oil soaked timing belt. Stupidity is not isolated to a specific geographic region. It emanates from the source outwards, through the Internet. Basically a series of tubes.

The engineers who did wet belt drive were in Europe. NA knew better.

The really funny part if this is the blind leading the blind...meaning the other oems that copied Ford and released this same mess to their customers. LOL

the whole low-displacement EcoBoost is one big mess

The engineers in Brazil, Turkey, and Morocco will be just fine. It takes time to get up to speed. But this is what happens when corporations learn that remote work is possible.

They're not going to stop outsourcing our jobs until it is cost effective to keep them here.

And with the way Americants feel they should be paid ridiculous wages, the outsourcing will continue. If they can pay a seasoned engineer in Brazil $50k without benefits, they will. Are you willing to compete with that?

You are going to have to become comfortable with that salary for engineering work. And you may not get to own your own house. You may have to share a home with another family or two. That's what those engineers are doing in the LCCs.

It's time for us to wake up as a country. These ridiculous wages are going to cost us our jobs in the end.

And the end is near!

Where are these engineers at. It doesn't show that they are world class engineers because Ford products are still sh---y.

Honestly I think an EE can make a better design than most of the ME’s

An electrical engineer approving a critical mechanical engineering engine component? How does that work? Wait... This is Ford, so I suppose that makes sense to not make sense.

Actually it was an electrical engineer who approved that design. He was a friends and family person who was promoted for his connections.
