Thread regarding Cisco Systems Inc. layoffs

We're done, but for how long?

Will we hear about the next round next month? Next quarter? It su-ks that the question is no longer "Will we have layoffs?" but "When will layoffs continue?"

@cqk+1uyesG4U, there’s been more than a few yrs w/ multiple LRs in them, but the LRs that aren’t the big Q1 LR tend to fly under the radar.

If it wasn’t for this site, I wouldn’t have known about this past Feb LR.

Back in ‘16, a coworker was in AZ celebrating his Grandfathers 80th or 85th Birthday, so the family was having a huge family gathering to celebrate. Our manager had to txt him the evening CR made the LT announcement in the yr end earning call to have a 1:1 meeting the next morning to give him the bad news.

I don’t know if it was just that manager, or if it’s Cisco policy, but they don’t seem to delay the notifications if you’re on vacation.

They said 80% of total 6000 now so 4800 would have been cut yesterday, remaining 20% next quarter so 1200 still remaining to go next few months.

Layoffs once a year (or more) has been the way it is for a long time now.

Feb 2025 could bring a new 5K cut, very very high probability then we have our usual 100% probability Aug 2025 cuts. Tough times ahead i am praying 2025 overall market improves otherwise we are fu---d.

No LR in coming two years, that says the earliest maybe February of 2027. >

Toxic positivity. 'The Secret' is better than your statement. At the least, it made me feel good in the beginning.

Already rumored to have November plans… but who knows, just enjoy the Cisco way of doing things.

The US layoffs should be mostly done. There may be some on leave or vacation that have not been notified. Other countries may still have layoffs.

This is typically once a year so you should be good until the end of the fiscal year.

Of course, that is what I thought last year and I was hit by the mid-year February LR. I have been with Cisco for decades and this was the only time I saw two LRs in a year. Right now, this looks like a one off.

Usually, more than one LR means someone did an especially bad planning job.

It is possible for a BU to suffer a second layoff if it is very poorly run from a financial planning point of view. Most should be ok.

You should expect an LR every year around Q1.

Even though my immediate team wasn't impacted, several around us and connected to the work we were. I'm definitely feeling less confident about the end of Q2.

Q1 is now going to bite. Q2 is weaker by nature. Look for Feb LR. Slippery slope now.
