Thread regarding ExxonMobil Corp. layoffs

If XOM forces us to return to the office 5 days a week, I’ll quit. How about you?

There is no reason I can’t work remotely 2-3 days a week.

I’m more productive when WFH, have less stress, get more done, don’t have to deal with the toxic and bullying a-holes in the office, and consider the savings in gas and time by not driving to the office as part of the raise that I didn’t get last year.

I don’t need XOM, XOM needs me.

Wait… people are still WFH?!? That’s not an option for our team. It is HIGHLY frowned upon when you don’t give at least 12 hours a day, most of your weekends & of course, working through your vacation.

We look forward to your resignation.

All the best (I don’t mean that)

@onq Dude…why do you keep repeating this debunked BS every time WFH comes up here?

Ask anyone working in tech who has complied with an RTO mandate and got fired anyway if showing up at some overpriced, over-leveraged glass tower did anything to protect their job. Spoiler: it didn’t.

The main thing causing white collar O&G jobs to be sent to Bangalore is the fact that they’re easy to do and they don’t want to pay you $300k/year to do them.

The EMTEC oversight of WFH almost de facto forces people to WFH one day a week in different days each week so the system doesn’t flag it to their SLS.

That system had boundaries (flag to your SLS when you WFH too frequently or on repeat days, or certain Friday/Monday combos, etc) so people will naturally just go up to that boundary and stop

Just to give you an idea exxon lost the senior vp of unconventional out of the blue and didn't miss a beat. I think exxon is going to be ok if you quit.

OP - If you think anyone at Exxon cares if you quit you are way off base. A company the size of Exxon will never know you are gone. It might affect your immediate co-workers, but the company could care less. People will have forgot you in a couple of days. Now if you have a job waiting that is what you want and need then you will be okay, but never think you are anything more than what you are. I have seen many people leave and it does not matter at all.

@onq+1uyWgqdS, just compare the work and deliverable produced by someone in west and someone in east and will you know the difference in the work quality. Yes, someone in India cab do the work and relative to their pay and both is what company is willing to accept, a lower quality deliverable that is.

If you can do your job from home then someone can India can do it remotely for probably a tenth of what you make. I don’t really understand the people who keep complaining that they can’t work from home.

OP: Another troll post from an aging control freak who wants to force everyone to interact with him for 8hrs/day.

And no, WFH doesn’t make your job more likely to be sent to Bangalore. That’ll happen regardless. Just ask all the people in tech who complied with RTO mandates only to be laid off anyway and have their jobs sent overseas or outsourced to low-cost domestic contractors. If you’ve noticed more bugs in your software and security breaches lately, this is the primary reason.

XOM definitely doesn't need you. It is a bruning ship where it is every last man and woman for themselves

But look at the bright side. At least you get 2 days working from home in lieu with 5 days at office

I do better in the office and I know it, but I still choose to wfh frequently because I’m lazy. If they make me come in 5 days a week I’ll do it, and probably feel better about myself.
