Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Needs to be said

To dell execs and managers reading this: Amazon is a FANG. Meaning it's a well sought after company to work for. They pay handsomely with great salary and RSUs. Their stock will appreciate in the future greatly. The employees will get their own dedicated workstations. The campus is modern and work area is conducive to productivity.

You, at Dell, are none of the above. So don't think you will get the same results.

I thought the for horsemen of the dot com era were Cisco Systems, Sun Microsystems, Oracle and EMC- not Dell. Dell were part of the four in the 1990s

Amazon is set to sell a Basics brand of re-labeled workstation style PCs that are better than the cheapest Dell models. Will servers follow?

Dell bought EMC to get into the Enterprise space. Over the past 7 years, Dell has done nothing but let the old EMC products wither, mainly by outsourcing them to Indian coders who don't understand the products, or have the coding knowledge to maintain and upgrade them. If Dell management thinks they're going to make a dent in the AI space selling servers with low margins and the majority of the revenue going back to Nvidia, AMD and Intel, good luck with that. At least with EMC products, they were solidly engineered with good profit margins and superior service. Dell products are rapidly turning into 'none of the above'. It's beyond sad and they think that AI will save the company. Must be something funky in the air or water in RR...

Dell is an absolutely terrible company with no innovation or future. EMC had a future and Dell crushed it. Amazon is a totally different company and can’t compare to Dell at all. Amazon actually delivers products that people want.

To all annoying naysayers writing here - Dell is a DIES - one of the four proud horsemen of year 2003 - Dell, Intel, EMC, Sun Micro. All are among the greatest US companies with proud legacy of astute management and deep business acumen.!

I have to say the same thing about engineering. Those survivals are not any better than the ones who were let go. They are just lucky enough to work on some products which are still making money. The code they’re writing and the approach they are using are way worse than the work of the engineers who were let go.

Don’t think Amzn is faring better than Dell. They are declining missing their rev target last quarter. Should compared instead with companies like Supermicro that does 5-days RTO and are making $2M per headcount.

A full 5-day at the office just like Amazon announced today. Mark my words.

Dell exec’s are some of the biggest mo--ns you’re likely to meet. Absolute cowards and I still work at Dell. Just look at marketing and PdM exec’s - I would honestly say 90% are incompetent people who just got lucky . Focus on a few products and ignore everything else!
