Thread regarding Boeing Co. layoffs

Good-bye Boeing

New CFO "threat"

"Hey, we need to save money, so some of you engineers and managers may be furloughed"

This is supposed to sew discord between non-union and union, but it's having the exact opposite impact.

Boeing is already hemorrhaging engineers. The good/experienced ones leave because they are not valued or paid. The young ones leave because they are not promoted.

All of the non-union engineers I have talked with at multiple sites say if they are furlough, they will find another job before they are called back.

Any sympathy non-union had for the company is gone.

Why would they let any of the non union engineers go? The 787 is the only airplane ticketing right now. If any of the engineers are let go, it's the ones working in WA.

I work on a major project with mostly contractors and if all the contractors get furloughed then the project stops and I suspect most of the workers will find new jobs or leave. You must leave the country if you are fired from your h1B job. It will take years to ramp back up.

Ton of good work out there. My phone ringing nonstop ever since they know I'm on strike. Crazy amount, but I'm taking a week off first, then pick and choose a few cash cows next week. I guess it just depends on your skills

Well, we lose engineers every week and I don't think they are quiting to be unemployed.

Everyone talks tough about "finding another job" until they actually start looking and realize there is nothing out there.
