Thread regarding Texas Instruments Inc. layoffs

Brutal

Have been with TI for 46 years. Was going to retire end of the year. After shift on May 22nd got call from manager, " sorry but, you have been caught in a RIF & today was your last day. Someone will contact you from HR".

Received an email, from HR, 60 days pay, 60 days insurance, 1 yr pay for every yr service. No bridge to retire. No retirement bennies.

Have to mail our laptops & equipment back. Nice way to dump folks, call them on the phone. Don't even do it face to face!

Is that a typo on the payout? Is it 1 wk pay for every year of service? 1 year payout for every year of service is kinda insane

@zxbd Believe OP meant 1 month pay for every yr service.

I’ve been through 4 layoffs and a manager in 3. Never seen anyone get a year for each year of service. Best is 2 weeks tops

not bad at all with the length of service you have accumulated at TI - you will walk away with 46 weeks of Severance + std. base 8 weeks. That's easily over 52 weeks or 2 years of paid vacation! You have earned well deserved restful times.!

I think you should talk to a lawyer and see if you can negotiate the extra month and bridge to retirement.

Yah, no. Standard is one week of pay for every year of service at TI.

Did you really get 1 year pay for every year of service? That sounds too good to be true for TI haha
If u have 5 years of experience with $50000 salary, you got $250,000?

Not brutal at all. You indicated you got a year of pay for every year of service. That's amazing!
