Thread regarding Shell Oil layoffs

There is life after Shell, but be quick to find a position:

To all those who may be leaving in 5-6 months - you should already apply to every oil and gas job you see outside.

Don't think you won't be impacted - better prepare for it and then not use it.

If you don't land something within 6 months of leaving - your chances will decrease a lot.

You can retool to a different industry - but face it, starting as a junior in a new industry and competing with recent graduates may not be a very enjoyable place in life.

Anyway - do something today! The oil and gas jobs out there are limited, but they do exist!

Why would not landing something within few months be so catastrophic? Most people I know from previous redundancies took 1-2 years to find a new role they like - those who stayed in oil and gas anyway.
