Cut the BS, Is RTO 2 a Thing

Seeing a lot of chatter about an RTO 2 thing, and IMO it sounds like people just repeating rumors back and forth to each other with no actual knowledge. I don't care if you think they track xyz, does anyone actually KNOW that a new mandate is coming out. The past month it seems like a lot of nonsense entered the koolaid stream, and this RTO stuff has that energy.

In Ireland working in ISG. Was told that we are 48% remote which is "too high". Was asked to select hybrid. This was not an official mandate, probably just a request so that they can sort out numbers to take the heat off of the location.

Waiting for the hammer to fall now because i declined the offer, (even though officially they will not state this is the reason as they are not allowed to discriminate).

Dell will probably invest elsewhere anyway since the Apple Tax case was won by the EU and Ireland is no longer able to be any kind of tax haven to funnel profits through

I am in the HR loop on these things. There is no 2.0 on the horizon, this is either the wild conjecture of some overly active imaginations or fear mongering. I hope this helps y’all relax a little

A lot in Ireland who signed up for remote before covid are still paid a monthly fee for remote working. Will be interesting to see how they try to remove that within the law.

It's real but seems irish leadership is pushing hard for no remote, 100% full or hybrid office work.

Someone must be concerned about their multi million property portfolio

Ireland is bottom of the list for hybrid, it's over 50% remote but hey they gave the choice

Based in Ireland and have had a 1:1 with my director/manager encouraging strongly to go hybrid. Ireland in particular isn't doing well in terms of in office presence and the feeling is that Dell would invest elsewhere..

Senior management longs for the days when they can stroll around the office (when they occasionally come in) and think “I own these people”.

As this is a rumour site you have answered your own question. "No", nobody (who would be frequenting this site) would be able to verify if a new mandate is on its way. But the rumours are there. I heard a variation on the same theme. The version I heard said that Hybrid becomes Onsite (meaning 5 days a week), Anyone remote who are close to the office (travel time of less than 60 min) would be expected to come in "regularely" (basically what hybrid is now) and people with longer commute times could continue to be remote. Do I have any solid evidence that this is true or based in reality, no I don't...

Yep. Lower the trap door of your overalls because all you remote/hybrid thieves are going to be taken to the woodshed and hit hard by the high contacts.

I think the percentage of remote workers is too high for them. If it got up around 85% with consistent site presence then they will be happy.

They are blaming remote work for market share loss and feel if we are all on site all the time it wouldn't be happening

I have heard remote workers will be expected to be on-site by the end of next fiscal year, meaning in real terms a remote worker would most likely have to move house to accommodate that.
