I haven’t yet been notified. I would actually prefer to be laid off, because I managed to find another job which, at least on paper, looks like an improvement over my job here. If I’m laid off, it’s a win-win. To those affected - I’m truly sorry, guys. I hope you will find jobs soon, and better ones at that. To those still here - this company just isn’t what it once was. Look for something better for yourself.

My guess is there will be more layoffs, but not next week. Probably in a few months. I think Q is trying to reposition itself in anticipation of eventually losing major customers.
The San Diego news announced 226 laid off employs via the WARN notice. I can’t imagine we would want to continue to send out multiple notices in a short period of time. So IMO we are done with lay offs for this quarter. There maybe other cuts that happened at other sites, but the cuts maybe below the threshold to have to announce publicly. See point 2 below.
Key points of the California WARN Act:
- Applicability: It applies to employers with 75 or more full- or part-time employees.
- Layoff Criteria: It covers mass layoffs involving 50 or more employees within a 30-day period, plant closures, or relocations.
- Notice Requirement: Employers must provide at least 60 days’ advance written notice to affected employees, local officials, and the EDD.
- Penalties: Employers who fail to provide this notice may be required to pay back wages and benefits to affected employees for each day of violation (up to 60 days).
- Exceptions: The law allows for exceptions in cases of unforeseen business circumstances, natural disasters, or if a company is actively seeking capital or business that could avoid the layoffs.
How do you know they are done? I think they’ll continue in the next upcoming month… but that’s a feeling only without any proof
BTW, I was let go last year after 16 years - so I got a fairly good severance. I got a job in mid April in anticipation of the May layoffs. Didnt get let go in that round, but quiet quit long enough to be let go in October. My teammates were relieved that they weren't let go - so honestly they probably appreciated the fact that I was not performing as well as I could for those few months. e.g., I took over maintenance work rather than new projects, etc.
I hated some of my teammates for doing nothing before I being let go. Their behavior brought down the whole team. If I were the project lead, I would have fired them long ago before they incurred significant damage. However, they were kept in the company possibly due to political reasons until the whole team was eliminated. Joining a competitor to take revenge is acceptable, but hurting teammates by doing nothing is immoral. Your teammates could be the sole breadwinners of their own families, and they don’t deserve to be betrayed like this.
Take another job and don't quit officially if the new job is not a competing company. If it's a competitor - you risk being sued.
WOW!!
The last post is actually the way followed by many people for years. Absolutely do nothing for one year, and get laid off. If you are lucky, you will even get a package. Otherwise, you’ll have 1 yr of free salary.
The only loser in this eq is your teammates; if you care…
Do both of the jobs and quiet quit at QC. You'll be added to the list next year and you'll get an additional year of pay! Win-win
If you are in CA, WARN requires a 60 day notice. With the current notice dated for 11/12 for 226 employees, if you don't find out today, you aren't being laid off in this round. But there is nothing stopping them from issuing another notice next week.
Wait for a week. Last year I was notified several days after the official date while I was on FMLA leave. Please keep us informed what happens next.
Layoffs are done .
You should take another Job..
