Thread regarding Stellantis - Fiat Chrysler Automobiles layoffs

Do I have 1 more year?

Guys,
If I'm considered exceptional talent working in a high-demand tech field, do you think I'll have a full year to find a new job, or might I be let go before then? I just need until the end of next year at the latest. What are your thoughts?

@6oqc+1utpJ4rT - there are over 180 openings in NA right now on the internal job posting site as well. This entire thing has been blown way out of proportions

@6oqc+1utpJ4rT they already let go SWX back in March. So is their strategy quantity over quality? That's a weird approach when it comes to engineering 🤣

I mean they're ramping up workforce hiring in the Franco-Brazilian-Indian hubs? Not even including Moroccan, Polish, 3rd world country hubs.

SWX that is and speaking of which, the global and regional TH's are confirmed for next week (9/26)

They can’t layoff anyone, we are barebones workforce.

How would anyone know if you're safe? What area are you in? They're about to do VSP, if you didn't take it odds are you'll be fine

By the way, I received a 7% pay increase this month, but I’m pretty sure I'll be let go soon. I’m just trying to figure out the right timing.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. The challenge I'm facing is that the project I'm working on has the potential to open many doors in ADAS and could lead to opportunities with various companies. I'm certain that management isn't particularly concerned about my research. The only question I keep getting is whether the system we're working on can eventually be designed offshore.

That said, I would like to finish the project and move on. Hopefully, I have about 12 months to do so.

No… after the protests & dust have settled down from the plant closures protests & layoffs, you will be let go. Certainly before the end of this (‘24) year😳😥

Best time to find a job is while you're still employed. Granted the labor market is in the toilet, who knows what will happen post-election. One can only hope by the start of 2025 the path to recovery can begin?

It's not like they're letting most people go... after the VSP some people might be laid off, most won't. I swear I've never seen so much panic over so little substance.

Well, the exceptional talent should be smart enough to know to look while still being employed.

It's too late after you lose your job.

Did you really need someone to tell you that, go look at the team leaves.
