Thread regarding Qualcomm Inc. layoffs

Those not coming into office 4 times a week affected

Looks like those people that refuse to come into work a full day four times a week. I’ve also been affected.

in one area of QCT over 360 people got the boot for cause and received zero dollars in severance these dummies thought they were too good to work in office so they are now gone.

This included VPs directors, senior directors, and all the ranks below. It affected everybody. I also know people that would come and badge in and leave to go home right away. They also got booted because Qualcomm was monitoring their actual computer for activity during the day. Big. mistake losers.

Don’t get deviated by some BS.

They are laying off engineers because they can hire in Asia for low wages. Revenues are not increasing and cuts are the only way to manipulate the profits.

I come in less than 4 times a week (probably average between 2-3. Pretty much the days I have in person meetings). I got a surprise meeting with manager today, but not to lay me off. Just to tell me to get my numbers up. OP is wrong.

Without divulging the location, in Oct/Nov 2023 LR, I have seen employees with family getting laid off who were 5 days to office on the trot even when the mandatory req was only 3 days. They were doing so not because of loyalty towards Q but because they had the obligation to transport their kids to/from school. They must have been the darling of HR and managers. This is definitely sh--e post by some grumpy Q management or a Q management rat. GET A LIFE LOSER!

This is not true many people doing pure research are not coming in and jobs are safe where as many people coming in all 5 days were affected. It’s all a matter if your BU was profitable or not going forward the trend has changed Q will be doing these rounds irrespective of how the company is doing so it will matter which group you are working for

This is just an HR propoganda post. You can bet if they fired people with cause there would have been warnings and emails. Firings also lead to hiked unemployment insurance costs. If they had fired 300 people, you don't think one of them would have posted on LinkedIn by now?

People, just keep badging in. If they're making you work nights with your eventual replacement in India, might as well get to work from home.

Oh yeah, I followed RTO once they said it was mandatory in AH. and still was let go.

There's more to this story than what is being told. I believe annual lay-offs at QCOM will happen now. It is no longer a company that allows resting and vesting, they saw that most QCOMers took advantage of this during covid years. Saddest part is that the employees who work the hardest (Engineer, Sr. Engineer, and Staff Engineer) are all going to be affected as they see you as a pawn rather than an investment.

Best of luck to everyone :)

Hm, I got let go. I slowly was watching the team get shifted and offshored to QIPL. Raised multiple concerns to team members and even manager.
Manager informed me that he talked to VP to ensure that they will be able to switch me to a different team if we were to dissolve the team to QIPL.

This did not happen, manager and I were let go, and only one other team member were kept. I am assuming they wanted a clean slate and only kept the worker who was the superstar.

Sad because the past year and half, I raised this concern, and even validated that I am more than happy to switch to a different team, and even going as far as having these talks every two months with manager but no avail.

Saddest and most funnest part was that my VP was OoO so it was Sr. Dir to deliver the news to me, had it been the VP, I could've asked why they didn't want to keep me.

I believe it is purely cost-reduction, it's better for my mental health as I pride myself in my work.

Ya, that’s just not true at all, speaking from experience of myself and my entire group

Wow… that’s pretty brutal. I had thought the security cameras in the parking lots and in the buildings was used to monitor time spent in the office, but they are smart to use IT. Too bad they got caught… I think they should have been warned. Now all of us know so thanks for sharing the post.
