Merger Rumor

A friend of my friend heard from another friend….. that shell is doing layoff at the same time and this could be a sign for us to merge into one company.
What’s the chance? And is it good or bad for us?

CEO needs to step down, no direction on growth and profitability, buybacks doesn't do anything.

I worked for Shell, they are equally a $hit show; this would just create a tu-d mountain.

As sad as it is, Roaring Kitty could be the only person on the planet who could get bP stock to go up instead of continue to drop

It wouldn't make sense. The portfolio and strategy are quite similar, it would mean the companies would want to double down..That's before the regulatory considerations

Most of our assets are garbage. No one would pay for them. They’d just want to buy the good ones, and there’s no way we’ll get rid of those.

This is a rumour that pops out every year. It will never happen. And no, it would not be good news for employees. Mergers mean further reductions of workforce (redundancy etc). Horrible idea

shareholder returns nonexistent. bP is a capital furnace. buybacks were brilliant...they returned less than zero to shareholders.

Shell is in the same situation Bp is in with course correcting its strategy and getting back to improved shareholder returns…

Bp is probably a better target for a take over vs merger.
