Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Who's rooting against Truist?

Just wondering, who here is actually hoping to see Truist crash and burn? I’m really curious how many people feel that way. Be honest, no judgment!

New leadership.

The people running the show at the top are doing a terrible job and should probably consider working for the government with the amount of spending and funny money that goes on.

Calling their layoffs "Project Star" reminds me of government surveillance on its citizens under the "Patriot Act" or even the floundering initiative that is the "EARN IT Act".

Flowery name for terrible things without cincession that they are and will always be the problem.

I'm not because I work here and would like to continue getting paid for the work I do at the level I am.

Of course those of us who work at Truist don't want it to fail. We want to continue getting paid and receive a pension in retirement. Having a company that failed on your resume isn't a great thing.
Lots of really good points in these comments. Many companies hobble along for a very long time without outright failing (like Truist is now). We clearly need new leadership at the top few levels. The engagement survey, high teammate turnover, and this forum make that very clear. Until Bill is gone and a new leader makes significant changes, we will continue to hobble along, not engaged, and performing at a low level. How sad for Bill to end his career being so disliked by most who have worked with him.
To the person with 10% of their 401k in Truist stock - this is a bad idea anywhere you work! Lets say the company suddenly discloses a big accounting irregularity. You could lose your job and also money in your 401k. Reduce your risk exposure by diversifying your investments outside of where you work.

It would be nice if I didn’t have to see their bright lights and illuminated logo outside my house and on their building and while driving throughout the city.

Not to mention all of their social media ads that keep popping up constantly on my phone.

Don't want it to fail. History proves that companies can be profitable and treat their employees with the dignity and respect they deserve. I don't think morale can get any worse right now. Leadership starts at the top.

I want to see Truist do well and succeed. Some good people work here. Like others have said, BR needs to retire and we need new EL team

You want an honest answer: no, I do not want Truist to fail. What I do want is what has been stated below: hold executive management and the BOD accountable for this mess and stop taking it out on the teammates that are actually the only thing keeping this sinking ship afloat. Bill has proven he can’t lead yet here he is. New executive management is needed, and that new executive management needs to have a clue as to how to boost morale and teammate loyalty (hint hint layoffs and then giving $9 Million in incentives to two EL members is not how to do it).

The board should replace as much of the current executive team as they can, claw back as much of the merger related incentives as they can from the ones who left or retired, and close or rename the Leadership Institute. After a $6.1 Billion write down in Goodwill following the merger there's no way anyone in charge or with equity incentives should have made more than their base salary since 2019. This would do wonders for morale and show that they at least begin to understand the problem.

I don’t believe anyone want’s SunTruist to fail. 30000 people make their livelihood from it. We all want fresh leadership. Bill has exhausted clients, employees and the markets the bank services with his poor leadership. The BOD has played more than an active role in the failures to achieve the success needed. Go read the transcript of his Barclays presentation yesterday. The how great we are rhetoric is quite revealing.

I would like to see the responsible Executive leaders removed and held responsible. I still have friends at Truist, so I do not want to see it fail.

I’ve been here 15 years, going back to heritage Suntrust. There are a lot of legit grievances with the company and management but I don’t want to see it fail. I want to see the BOD do it’s job and change the executive team and improve things. It’s frustrating to watch Bill rehash the same playbook over and over and we all know the Einstein saying about definition of insanity. I don’t want Truist to fail. I want new leadership and a fresh start and things can get better over time.
