Intels cost cutting measures are going too far, I’ve heard that they are going to charge for parking for all employees on site.

Intel's lab division is a mess—it's poorly run with unstandardized practices they tout as world-class, but they're just difficult to benchmark against external resources.

In a startup, I could deliver faster turnaround and higher-resolution material insights than what their lab produces for TEM. Sure, there are a few skilled individuals, but the lab overall is stuck in the past, moving at a glacial pace. The lab should be merged into the Foundry and drastically downsized. Most methodologies could be integrated directly into the fab, with the lab only needed for wafer dicing.

Labs has gotten too big , and too full of vanity projects with little / no tech transfer. It’s inevitable that it gets hit hard sadly -so many amazing , super passionate researchers … but if it’s never seen in product it’s not something Intel can afford any more …. It’s a shame , because it’s my favourite part of the company … but it can’t be sustained any more.

Will be condensed to 1 low cost geo is the expectation , 24x7 is the foundry standard so for many lab sites Ireland in particular a very large number of lab staff applied for VSP (likely to avoid the 24x7 expectation and relocation to a low cost geo) - all will be rejected - rejection calls start later this week - expect a large number of resignations in lab teams worldwide in next couple of months
