Thread regarding Global Payments Inc. layoffs

Today's all Hands meeting discussion

How did you feel about today’s all-hands Q&A with our new CIO? It seemed a bit odd that they disabled the option to comment anonymously. He talked a lot about transparency, promotions, remote work, and raises this year, but Shannon said the same things before.

Cuts may be necessary, however, they are always the best team members. They don’t even know the dedication and knowledge they are cutting while the slackers and manipulators remain untouched Would love to know the logic. They must just spin the wheel. They surely are not consulting those who know the best

Additional cuts are necessary at a leadership level including a thorough evaluation of those hired while under said leadership. The gaps in understanding and leadership skills displayed by HL is vastly different from GP. Very unprofessional and challenging for teams to work through. SVPs think they have loyalty cause they thrive by those that stroke their egos vs those that challenge the status quo. I can only assume more cuts are coming and while they are difficult to deal with they are necessary for the company to move forward in a strategic direction.

So there's an investor meeting on Sept 24. Listen for what they offer as financial guidance. Every time they promise "margin expansion" that means only one thing...questionable bonus plans, more headcount reductions, jamming our customers with garbage fees and not funding the stuff our customers are asking for. If they get off the margin expansion talk, maybe we can breathe ez again...we'll see.

Recent events have highlighted a recurring pattern in organizational change: the illusion of accountability. When problems arise, we often see a few sacrificial lambs – usually mid-level managers or figureheads – thrown to the wolves. Meanwhile, the senior leadership team remains largely untouched. It's a familiar dance, and one that leaves many feeling disillusioned.

This time is no different. While a few high-profile departures have made headlines, the core leadership team remains intact. It's a clear message: the status quo prevails.

As the old saying goes, "fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me." It's time we stopped expecting real change from leadership teams that consistently prioritize self-preservation over accountability. True transformation requires more than a few symbolic gestures – it demands a genuine commitment to change from the top down.
