Dang, I missed the call. Did he say all his customers are id--ts and he only needs a few of them and the rest can go pound sand 😆
The terrifying and at the same time crazy thing is, it’s absolutely true.
It doesn’t matter if you are a VP, Manager, Principal or IC1, it will be Hock himself who decides upon your future.
Since nobody can seem to find AVGO's severance policy in writing, such speculation is only reinforced.
It’s in Hock’s mind, he decides on a case by case basis.

@1ynl+1upvt9fW November is the 1 year anniversary of the VMWare acquisition. VMW negotiated a 1 year period after the acquisition date in which any laid off former VMW employees would get VMW's severance package.
In light of the actions VMW management took in pre-paying out bonuses and other such moves to reward VMW employees before their departure, the conjecture is that the AVGO severance package is not as good as the VMW is/was.
Since nobody can seem to find AVGO's severance policy in writing, such speculation is only reinforced.
I’ve heard mixed things on Broadcom severance package. Most sources from Broadcom layoffs pre VMware mention 2 weeks per year of service. I’ve seen others mention 1 week per year more recently… not sure what to believe.
Also, wondering if you are in 2 month WARN / garden leave during bonus payout if you qualify.
@OP
Why November?
If the Broadcom severance package is equal to or better than the VMware package, I sincerely doubt that outgoing VMW would have fought to keep it they way they did - rather just the opposite.
Meine manager told me that avgo sever package is much better the vmw. How true?? Can earlier pure avgo fired folklores say
HT will continue the headcount cuts in line with AVGO profitability goals for VMware. If our large customers continue to exit at the current pace, then the layoffs will be ongoing.
My understanding is people will lose the 2 months severance they were getting from vmware. However, the 2 months WARN period where people were basically on administrative leave will still apply by law. Soooo...if somebody were to be let go after Oct. 16, they'd still be eligible to receive their Dec. 15 RSU's if I'm doing the math correctly?
Not sure about Dec bonuses though. I know they're technically for the previous year's work, but I'm guessing in that scenario you wouldn't get the bonus.
This is the way!
