The arrogance from the board to managers has made this company incompetence. The competitors they used to jeered to have come over, AMD, NVDA, TSMC. They have once said keeping AMD is just to avoid antitrust probe, CPU is the future not GPU and their process is ahead one generation number by TSMC. Anyone who tried to challenge this culture have been exiled. Almost no change after 10 years, just came up some promise to make stockholders happy.

It's not arrogance. It started with ignorance and later slid into insecurity. Intel leaders are internal focused. They have no idea of the outside world. It's typical Indian behavior.
There is one exception- in 2024, the goal was revised to be the world’s no. 2 foundry. This is astounding admission of defeat
If you believe the hype, you will carry it as long as you can. This is how Intel operated despite raising contrarian ideas to the x86. GPU? does not matter and therefore Intel was subpar in graphics. Anyone remembers Larabee? That's from the pompous Intel Labs/Pat Gelsinger. You walk in the hallway, people will repeat the mantra passed down. That's how you enslave the people and hold them hostage. The hot temper and arrogance was simmering for a long time and the corporation pays dearly now. "If you build the fab, they will come", they lagged for a long time and we know where the Fab situation is now. Perhaps, Intel has to go back to the days when they were lean and nimble.
@tdn "We are trash and have been trash for a few years now."
I would argue much more than a few years, closer to 8 year. Intel was able to coast for awhile, but not being honest with mistakes and taking accountability for failings tends to compound the problem resulting in where we find ourselves today. Producing our most advance technology externally and only doing packaging inhouse.
It worked for IBM, they survived off packaging for others, we can probably do that as well in a diminished capacity.
You think?
I am shocked by how arrogant we are. I know that was the stereotype of us in the industry but holy sh-t it’s so visible now that the roof is crumbling down. We are fu---d. We are not pulling out of this nose dive for a long long time. But everyone seems complacent and wants to continue down the same path because we are Intel and we must be right! This has been a super rude awakening. We are trash and have been trash for a few years now.
And all the Intel apologists are the biggest problem of them all. Wake up!
