Buckle up -filing for Chapter 11 on Sunday, Sept 8, 2024

Big Lots is preparing to file for bankruptcy as early as this Sunday and plans to sell its chain of stores through a court-supervised process, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the situation.
The company will remain in operation under Chapter 11 protection, the report said, and is currently in the process of securing a stalking horse bid, which means that the bid could be outdone if better offers emerge.

I used to work for Big Lots 2/3 years ago. When Bruce Thorn first came aboard as the new CEO. Seriously, WHO couldn’t see this coming?????? I mean right from the get-go??? Yeah, he was able to milk the company a little longer than what I’d thought possible but with this dingbat at helm, it was doomed as soon as he signed the papers. The corporation was never designed to take such a big hit in terms of his grossly overpaid wages. He’s a hog at the feeding trough.
