Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

This page has gone a little too negative

I read this page daily, sometimes it's so heart tearing to realize the team blue company I've proudly worked for 10 years are undergoing a decade low time. We must admit the flaws the company has but we should not deny the good times, the welfare, career growth, friendships, learning opportunity, work flexibility the company has provided to us. Can I know there is still people like me, keeping my stocks, hoping the company will recover soon. The goodness of LNL is a confidence boost, "The Reason to Believe" to start this weekend.

Not sure what are the product code names inside Intel for LNL and PTL, but outside world thinks
LNL = Lunatics Lake and
PTL = Pathetic Lake .

Once I realized the level to which MSFT is backing ARM, I left.

By the way LNL has very poor margins (high cost structure) and won’t sell in meaningful volumes since it is priced 200-300 higher than comparable AMD and Qualcomm laptops.

It’s also not competitive with Apple silicon although it does improve a lot vs MTL probably due to TSMC-inside (tm).

Anyways, good luck competing with M4 pro/max coming soon and Nvidia-ARM laptops next year.

The writing is on the wall that Microsoft is tooling the whole windows ecosystem to fully support ARM. The amount of money they have given Qualcomm is quite astounding. There is no more trust that Intel can remain a reliable supplier of silicon for windows.

Is the entire capital market too negative?

Intel is trading at $19 or slightly below that.

Intel is selling off anything that isn’t nailed down and is quite desperate for cash.
The desperation is palpable.

Pat over-built based on phantom covid demand. That was his mistake and you can’t undo a bad bet of that magnitude without breaking the company.

Truth isn’t negative. Truth hurts. Intel was toxic for many people who worked there.

In fact OP, thanks for helping me dream up a little thought exercise. If I’m happy to part with $500 to see Intel turn a profit, how about simply working some extra hours?

But I don’t think Intel would turn profitable even if every single employee chipped in 5 extra hours every week
I don’t think 10 would do the trick either
Nor would 40
Nor would 168

And this right here is the crux of our issue…

Tell ya what @OP: if we turn a GAAP profit in Q3 or even Q4 I will definitely congratulate you on a job well done and even take you out to a nice steak dinner at your choice of restaurant (even if the QPB isn’t enough to cover that)

But until then yes God’s Blessings on LNL and I remain very pessimistic

I’d take everything on this page with a grain of salt. I think Fishbowl has better info and discussion. There are too many or really loud MAGA racists and misogynists on this page, probably from AZ or ex Intel.

When AB took over the board, and BK became CEO, the company cemented its priority to cater to Wall Street above all else. Employees, process technology, design, all became unimportant.

The first thing you need to know is there is NO “Team Blue” and NO “Intel Family” that is pure corporate indoctrination !
Look for a good therapist to help you sort it out.

If you've only worked at Intel 10 years, you haven't been there for the "good times". Intel used to be a company with ethics and integrity that hired the best and treated them accordingly. As a result the workforce was loyal, and willing to do extra to ensure the success of the company. Once the bean counter CEOs took over, all that mattered was the investor and how the company appeared to the outside. Workers were disposable, the training department disappeared, constructive confrontation went away and a YES mentality was put in its place, safety and quality was prioritized below cost savings and output, benefits were reduced, and layoffs were put in place as the first way to cut costs every time the financials dipped.

A great company doesn't indiscriminately urge employees to take CPM/ER with no review of past job performance, experience level, or value to the business going forward.

Feel free to cheerlead, but if Intel would have listened to the workforce 20 years ago when they provided negative feedback, we might not be in this position.

Intels good times are behind it. Innovation is has been literally re--rded. Talent is elsewhere where they are appreciated. Good luck getting dei hires to produce like the geniuses of old.

"the good times" when all intel had to do was copy paste skylake refreshes for what felt like a decade.

The only Intel I know is an Intel that doesn't even know how to follow their own rules, do as I say not as I do company. I never saw Intel be a leader, just a monopoly squeezing and old dying fab for money while boomers count their property value from a home they bought in 1990's.
