I’m interested because leadership has been playing coy about numbers while also managing to be very unprofessional in communicating this round of layoffs. I’ve imagined it must be a rather high number.

Who knows? GP hasn't been up front about it and I don't know why not. I heard from someone that used to be in HR and left that it was 2700, but no way to really know.
During various calls on different days I heard - from the same top management mind you - the numbers 4.5% and 4%+ when asked how many people were laid off.
