Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

What do you think will actually happen to Intel?

I am on the fence whether I want to be among the lucky laid off or lucky who get to keep the job. Intel is too big and leadership sc--wed up too badly over the years for the deep dysfunction, a critical one, to be resolved by several rounds of layoffs and some pivots. I think that those who stay in Intel after the initial round of layoffs will not fare well in the near future anyway. I personally believe Intel can’t survive this, definitely not in the current form.

Broken into two pieces. The design piece will be bought by Broadcom, Qualcomm, or NVIDIA for cheap. IFS will sell for its asset.

Intel will spin and sell portions of the company. The RemainCo will thrive. More nimble, more focused. Please bookmark.

Same thing that happened to AMD and IBM. Split up into foundries and design or R&d houses

My guess is that Intel will become a license provider, like ARM is. The foundry business will be sold, or maybe something will remain and will produce chips for automotive or dishwashers.

You are spot on - current form is not sustainable. Not to say that breakup is more sustainable but it will happen anyway. If you have ambitions or dream left in your life, get out!

It will be split into two and each part acquired. Once the offers come in over the current valuation the board of directors won’t have any choice. For employees that’s not necessarily a bad thing, although I suppose there could be more job elimination and packages might be less if the new company’s packages are used.
