Thread regarding Southern California Edison - SCE layoffs

Absolutely Cold Blooded Layoffs

I am pretty sure there was a Cal/WARN violation on how SCE has reduced employees within the last 2-3 weeks. No forewarning or planning to help soon-to-be ex- employees, just told them they are not needed anymore. No one was given a chance to apply for other roles in other OUs or departments, which in my opinion, done in poor taste. Shame on you Pedro Pizarro!

I used to work for PMA in Pomona and quit because the boss was incompetent and harassed me for 15 mins of OT. The entire branch was a dysfunctional one, quick to blame, not really working as a team, and too many egos to stroke. Good riddance.

Yes Very Very Cold. Especially so the Higher up can keep there pocket full instead of trying to move Hard working dedicated Employees to other open positions. I was one who got laid off on wed 4/2/2025. Was very cold by one of the supervisors that should not even be there. Well the Heat is getting hotter over the Eaton fire against Edison! Hopefully the Big decision makers from Pedro and Steve on down face the Heat head on. Best everyone

This law firm is doing a investigation in to the layoff and would like to hear from you if you been affected. There is a place on the website to follow. It's very cold Blooded od SCE. Especially after all we have Done for them by working at home since COVID-19 and have been shoulding all the extra costs.

We are coming up on 2/28/25 and our OU has not announced the actual date we will be notified if we are still an employee or are let go. It’s very stressful, on top of leadership announcing not to wear company gear in public due to threats we are receiving for the wildfires. Very stressed organization with heavy work loads and quiet leaders. We don’t even know if we are working our last week or not with the company.

The laidoff employee should seek a attorney and start a class action lawsuit against SCE along with there business practices and expose how this company is. Plus share what the bonus are for the big wigs making the decisions. You don't see them taking cuts to save jobs. Plus when there are internal issues the supervisors don't want to hear it and just pass it on. There is no open door policy at SCE.

Layoffs of 'leaders' in T&D will take place on Oct 8 & 9 and will affect about 5% of all T&D leadership positions. Layoff for individual contributors in T&D will occur March 2025.

The company is smart. Instead of having one large layoff for the corporate OUs which would require them to have WARN notices and retain people for 30 days before terminating them, they are having small, department only layoffs targeting 5 people at a time, and ending their employment that same day, or in my case, same hour, heck same five minutes. Turns out, SCE is very efficient at terminating people.

It sure feels that the decisions around which positions are 'surplus' align with which employees the Principal Managers and Directors like rather than which areas are truly surplus. Those employees who don't do a lot of work but keep quiet and brown nose remain. Those who are left will continue the mediocrity that plagues SCE.

SCE had 200 million dollars unaccounted for last year.
They have hired top senior managers based on nepotism and not on merit. They have major Capital projects that are in limbo due poor management. They need to layoff a large portion to make the company more efficient. And reorganize departments.
I say excellent work from the CEO, He’s having the stock go up it’s at 86 a share,

C level leadership, pedro, Steve Powel ( a clone of Tom from the show succession) are horrible because they have emboldened a culture that makes staff at IC level the brunt of all scrutiny and reduction, causing angst at the lowest level. This is, all in a desperate attempt to impress stockholders (look busy do nothing) but in reality, will make the company far less competitive.

The vibes are definitely off at SCE. Both union and nonunion workers are getting antsy. Expect more layoffs.
