Thread regarding VMware layoffs

If full-on RTO is happening, I will probably not stay

My commute would probably be very long, and it would mean a significant time loss. RTO also means overall increase in costs. When you put everything on paper, it really isn’t worth it. Also, you put all that effort in, carry the cost, and then they lay you off anyway. If only the job market was at least a bit better, one wouldn’t think twice about quitting over RTO.

You should be thankful for a job in hand instead of assuming you are being tortured under a communist regime.

Thank you sir, may I have another?

While this is true, during COVID we proved that all of us can do the job from home

Yes.

And so what? The tiny Hock man doesn’t care. How long until you accept reality?

How is your job search going?

This is happening, in the US the 50 miles rule is no longer valid. Some people were asked for relocation, some living in hotels from Monday to Friday. In Europe, it is coming soon...

If you can do your job working from home, so can someone in India working in an office.

While this is true, during COVID we proved that all of us can do the job from home and no, India workforce will continue to shrink.

Let me tell you a secret. Hock tan doesn’t even know you exist

Which is why working for Broadcom su-ks.

But hey, is it the only job you can possible get, sure it’s a job. Be constantly looking and leave only when you have a new one lined up. That doesn’t excuse the id--tic policies of the little hock man.

At least every person I’ve seen fired from Bcom has found something else because they fire very talented engineers often.

Yes, let’s emulate the Chinese worker model!

You are missing the point of others because your only focus add other people’s pity to your own self pity.

Do what makes you happy but don’t expect your everyone to support your fake issues. Commute is a non issue in an employers market. Your job will be happily accepted by 100s of 1000s of people today.
Demand from employer is very less compared to supply, especially for a high paying job.

You should be thankful for a job in hand instead of assuming you are being tortured under a communist regime.

If travel to the office is too far consider renting a room closer to the facility while seeking new employment. Don’t just cut ties with your salary in this crazy marketplace.

The market is flooded with people laid off and numerous H1Bs finishing college and on opt.
They would gladly commute just to have a job.
You not only have a job but a very well paying job (unless your greed makes you feel you aren’t)
It’s almost difficult to get the same pay in a new job these days

Yeah, you need to leave and let someone else have a job. It’s really sickening to hear such whiners with no compassion for the many suffering from tech layoffs

Hope you leave soon instead of whining.

Your compassion is inspiring! When you commute for 4hrs to an office to zoom with remote colleagues I’m sure you will feel the joy of the policy and will accept it as a badge of honor! You will have then complete le your bimboification, I mean Hockification.

All hail the glorious leader, he knows what is best for us.

Gotta go, need to switch buses, only 2 more transfers to go!
