Thread regarding Intel Corp. layoffs

Don’t renew 18000 h1b, problem solved

H1b main reason for Intel down fall. Most of h1b in intel are from state university, mediocre h1b don’t have innovative mindset and stuck to dirty politics of gang. Citizen suffer in this layoff, because h1b create gang and will protect each other. Don’t renew 18000 h1b they will leave without severance and can not do any legal fujkkk

the reason intel hires h1bs is because they can pay them less.
they pay them less because they are worth less.

the Indian PhDs on my project are totally worthless.

Yet another pure bs post. Layoff should be meritocracy or business need based and should not be by nepotism, race, citizenship or gender.

The reason they are here is supplement the local labor market. The semi industry pushed for this after the 90s and early 2000s labor shortage in this industry. Back then you could get fired from one semi company and get a job with another for $10K more in the same week. The semi companies didn't like this so invented a way to turn the supply vs. demand dynamics of the labor market in there favor. Enter the H1B program.

This is also the reason why you see a MS the required minimum for a large percentage of jobs at Intel --> so they can sponsor someone if they want to. It really has little to do with any specific skill often times. If the semi companies could convince the government to let them do it for techs too...they sure as heck would. In some parts of Asia they already do this for techs.

Sure there are some examples out of there of H1Bs with really hyperspecific skill sets and the US really needs them. But the majority fall into the former category. All the ones I work with fall into the former category. They are good people. But....they should be let go before a US worker unless there is some other reason. That is just common sense.

I expect Intel to try and retain as many of the H1Bs as they can legally get away with. That is the bottom line. They pay a few thousand a year for them and in return, essentially, they cannot quit or leave.

@suc - Many Indians are not even being admitted to U.S. universities with engineering degrees. The universities are letting them in with a technology B.Tech degree, not engineering. A B.Tech is the same course of study as an American from Devry.

In the universities fascination of adding diversity to U.S. campus, they alter their admission standards for B.tech Indian$.

@suc - your comment speaks more to your own understanding of technology than anyone else’s. The H1B’s have pulled the wool over your eyes.

This is id--tic..the reason they hire is because they have a masters/PhD from top universities..they can do things that you cannot even wrap your head around. Hence specialty occupation! They deserve to be here more than you
