Gannett Satellite Information Network, Inc., a subsidiary of Gannett Media Investment Group, will lay off 74 Cambridge-based employees by Nov. 14, according to state filings.
Parent company Gannett Media Investment Group owns several local and national media brands like USA TODAY, The Patriot Ledger, Telegram & Gazette, Reviewed.com and more.
Layoffs affecting Cambridge-based employees will begin Nov. 1, and end Nov. 14.
The news comes after Gannett announced on Aug. 26 it plans to shut down Cambridge-based review company, Reviewed, in November, according to The NewsGuild.
According to The NewsGuild, Reviewed union members who are part of the NewsGuild of New York “overwhelmingly voted to unionize in March 2023 and struck for one week in July,” adding “Gannett’s actions follow months of union-busting by the company.”
