Does AMD have the equivalent to Intel Labs? I highly doubt it. Haven't seen them contribute anything major to the bottom line in 20 yrs.

In 30 years I never saw any useful product ever come out of the labs.

It will be impacted significantly this time. I expect it to disappear in the next cycle. Most researchers will be fired Some will remain to provide support to BUs as their new employees. Having a separate and forward looking research organisation does not make sense for Intel anymore as it is going to remain in pure survival mode for many years to come. Unfortunately, Intel lost the game and cannot sit at the table with the big boys.

Vast majority in labs will be gone either through VSP or more likely ISP, reason being foundry model is to condense to 1 small site in a low cost geo operating 24x7 , majority of intel labs work is obsolete in foundry model.

My question is how you got into Intel Labs? I am trying to transition to Intel Labs from TD and don’t see any job openings :(

Has to be yes … not because it’s not useful , but not enough of the research is making it to product innovation …. So has to be pure cost.
