Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Staples ruined my life

Staples ruined my life. I had a great job and took a chance on a new venture. Leadership lied to me and now I have nothing. I’m ruined. I know I’m just a number but now I see it. I hate everything and everyone.

Staples didn't ruin your life. They showed you deserve more than what they offer. Staples, essedant, quill etc are all sink8ng ships. They laid off all those people last year. Now they have a hiring event. They are grasping. Whynotcall back those they la8d off that might still get unemployed? Because we know the Staples way. Layoffs, firings, no promotions etc.

Not sure how Staples 'ruined' you. You take a job, do your best, and hope that you will keep the job. Can't put too much stock into it especially with Staples. It gives Staples undue power. I might get laid off, but I will be grateful for this job as long as I can because I know it isn't an easy job market.

There are probably many of us out there who feel the way you do @OP+1ujnTcdk. I learned so much from my time there, but the biggest lesson I learned, ironically, was when I left/was leaving...and that was to be loyal to yourself first.

I was more than loyal to Staples, but they used me and all the other folks laid off until they found a cheaper way to deliver their products and cast us aside...for mom-and-pop companies who got anyone with a running vehicle to deliver the packages. ANY vehicle, including rusted-out station wagons, Yugos, and Ford Escorts (that's a little hyperbole), but you get the point.

Staples, thank you for teaching me how to be a leader and watching out for myself 1st and foremost because you sure weren't loyal to me or all the others who worked so hard to make that company successful.

@OP+1ujnTcdk - the grass isn't always greener on the other side, but it is what you make of it. Make it your new job to re-create yourself and find a new job/career. There IS light at the end of the tunnel. I am proof of that. Good luck, and keep your head up.

Staples way now. Quill too. Trying to reinvent. Bring on walmart partnership. It's a sinking ship. They lay off every tenured assoc over $$$ shame. We know what is needed.
