5 more unions have a tentative agreement with Norfolk Southern. It’s getting real.

We bi--h bcuz the carriers are constantly not dealing in good faith. Eliminating head count, increasing the amount of tasks, then postponing contracts for years, no interest on the backpay, etc. If the unions sign too soon, railroaders fall further behind the other trades, railroaders having to work 12hrs to get paid what other tradesmen get paid for only working 8. Then the carriers postpone the next contract after this one for YEARS! Could be 2030 before railroaders can try to fix a bad contractual mess.
We bi--h if the contract is late and we bi--h when it’s on time.
I do not trust this at all. If the carrier(s) are willing to set a new contract now, that cannot be good for us. If they know something we dont know about what lays ahead? The skilled labor market might really change in 2025 - 2026. If railroaders agree to a nominal pay increase contract now, then the rest of the national tradesmen get a much bigger pay increase then railroaders will be years behind the curve. Many veteran railroaders not wanting to disturb their future retirement will be forced to work for less than the other trades for years.
I too would like to know.
What changes are he making?
Because I did not ask “ Does anyone know what the change to the vacation policies are?”
You want to know what the changes is? Why didn’t you ask what the changes are?
Does anyone know what the changes to the vacation policy is?
@3cnd Our contract could be getting settled several years early.
What's getting real? I wonder if it has anything to do NS under close scrutiny because of that derailment in Ohio, and they can't really afford to fight the unions on ANYTHING? Sometimes it's just better to agree than disagree, even when you don't agree with it.
