I gave my notice last week and I was shocked when I was asked if there was anything they could do to keep me. I'm not under the impression that I'm irreplaceable or so important that I'm the only one being asked this. My guess is that so many people are leaving that it's being felt and now they have to do some damage control. I could be wrong, but if this is true, it makes me so happy. And of course, I said no. There's nothing that could get me to stay here a day longer than my notice period.

Never take the counteroffer.
Optum has proven it can't be trusted to steward jobs or healthcare. It's all about stats and the almighty dollar. They are shrinking the care footprint routinely.
They track the retention rates ironically but not the layoff rate.
I gave notice last week, too, and the same thing happened to me. We are not alone!
Ha They want to be in charge . Afraid ppl are abandoning a sinking ship of their own volition.
What really crazy they actually reported there were no layoff last year. The powers that monitor layoff actually believe them.
This monolith laid off our team shortly after acquiring our company. They are now advertising the jobs - with significantly higher salaries than before! - because they’ve realized the people they fired are necessary staff contractually.
This is a layoff shop and they are unaware of the loss of capabilities given the obsessive focus on short term cost reductions.
One would have to be desperate, stupid, or psychotic to go back as there’s zero loyalty to employees. Sure, make 50 percent more than before you were fired only to be fired again with a non compete? Selfish insanity. To quote Nancy Reagan: “just say no.”
I moved to another position in the company. My old boss wanted me to stay and said she pulled “major strings” to get me an offer to stay…..it was 10 cents more than my new offer. 10 CENTS! It’s good to hear people are leaving and not getting laid off. This company has been going down hill fast for years. It’s almost like they hate their employees.
