How is everybody feeling?

With the week from he-l behind us, how is everybody feeling? I'm still in shock, to be honest. I was not affected, but too many folks I know were. Knowing how good at their jobs they were just makes it clearer how small of a role merit played in these cuts, and that's especially disconcerting.

I got the boot last week and it was my 10th yr anniversary. I am not going back. I worked long hrs in modernization so I could learn it and get experience. I got let go before I could even get the experience I needed. I was mainframe for 8.5 yrs before that. I did not get the email invite to go to the massive layoff meeting. Instead, I found out on Wednesday morning when my badge didn't work and My bosses had to contact HR to find out what's going on. HR said it was a mistake and then half hr later as I was working they called me and my bosses to tell them I was cut. My boss cried.

I agree with the poster who said you should keep your skills up to date. In the end that is what will make your hiring at another company more probable if you choose to leave. Your skills transcend any particular company.

I'm feeling like I just saw 100 years of experience between 4 team members that were NOT low performers get walked out and the entire leadership group get completely turned upside down while the ones we have already work 50-60 hour weeks and now the leadership group just got cut in half. Team members with over 20 years of service let go in a mass fu--ing zoom call. And then they have to work their notice or lose their severance pay. What a sh---y thing to do. As someone who "survived" I guess it's just a matter of time before I get the same treatment. GP su-ks. Period.

One day at a time. It's motivation to stay skilled up, if anything. I've not had much a passion for the company itself but I do like the work I do. Whether its here or elsewhere. Loyalty not guaranteed.

Just gonna see how it goes! Expectations are low but I would love to be proven wrong.
