Thread regarding Global Payments Inc. layoffs

I was let go without prior warning

I know this can be said for almost every experience with a corporate job, but I am now angry at myself that I’ve been dedicated, hard working and didn’t mind working overtime just to make sure work will be done properly. Admittedly, I did it first and foremost for my personal satisfaction. But it’s really frustrating when the other side doesn't appreciate your efforts. At least they should’ve considered not letting me go after years here only because of my age. Advice to youngsters, treat them as they treat you - with disrespect and minimal consideration.

Leadership did not acknowledge a layoff was coming until within the same month as it happened. Prior to that, questions about layoffs put into the all hands chats were not approved to be answered and any talk that would get close to it had the message that GP2025 was not a cost-cutting exercise.

Without warning is a bit of a stretch. The reorg announcements have been consistent for months with exec leadership stating a RIF was coming.

Now, what was the decision process on who was cut? No idea. However, since GP isn't an employee owned company, I'm pretty sure I don't have a right to know the process.

Still, it's a very rough time, and I'm sorry you were affected as well.

Advise to the younger generation…Disrespect can cause you to be included in the company’s next layoff. As we’ve seen with GP, the cuts keep coming. Keep your ‘head down’. Do your work with quality. Work your 40 hours and enjoy your life too. Work Unpaid only if absolutely required and IF management is giving you some comp time off, ask them in advance and take it!
