Thread regarding Truist Bank layoffs

Management needs to pay attention

Truist keeps forgetting that how you treat your employees is key in determining the fate of the company. The abuse we've been suffering for years in the way of layoffs and cuts in benefits and bonuses, among so many other things, will end up costing Truist much more in the long run.

OP - they don't keep "forgetting". They simply don't care. Truist is now just piggy bank for EL as they wait until they sell the bank. As far as the actual bankers who create revenue - and they just "rinse/recycle" positions for anyone who leaves. Ultimately - the bench of talent has become so weak that totally unqualified internal teammates are being promoted to positions that they are not qualifed/prepared for OR they hire dead weight that have been let go from other banks (there is a new Commercial relationship banker on my team who's worked at 6 banks in the last 8 years - doesn't that tell you something??). This Titanic cannot be uprighted at this point, so EL is just milking it for their own pockets, with absolutely no care for the future of the bank because they know there is no long term future.

It is so horrible working with some dead weight FTEs who apparently are too “important” to let go. A manager who says that should be the first one to be fired! It makes me angry when I see such people.

You Teammates mistakenly think EL and the BOD cares about you. You’re a necessary evil. They use words like care and purpose to fool investors and the public at large. YOU DO NOT MATTER!

Hey, Truist cares. Really, it does! We just awarded Mike and Donta $4.5MM in RSUs as a retention bonus for all of the amazing work they've done leading this bank, with purpose, into the ground!!

For all you top performers who were rewarded 2% merit increases right along side your underperforming teammates who we refuse to layoff because we lose the FTE, congratulations... we appreciate all of your hard work!!! We know how to incentivise and motivate you to continue to care and work hard... ........ oh wait.........

Pretty common cycle, they'll start acting like they care again as soon as the labor market heats up again. The important thing to remember is no matter what they're doing it's not about caring about the employee it's about defending the bottom line.
