Thoughts and prayers to all those laid off yesterday. Such a sad day in American history.

No news doesn't mean good news. Keep your trust in management at more than an arm's length and keep you skills up to date.

I realize this post is meant to mock all the other ridiculous predictions of layoffs, but I was expecting something to occur this month or next coinciding with performance feedback. Having said that, I have heard zero chatter about the next round. I am now starting to think that there will be no layoffs until March/April 2025.

"BS...I have an interview on the 10th Sept !"

Word of advice: Reconsider

Anyone who has received an interim knows layoffs are coming. Interim messaging across the board has been hammering inconsistent behaviors as opposed to the work actually delivered. And everyone I know has been "coached" not to speak up - whether that be to challenge or clarify- you are simply to do as you are told.

Every day for the past week, there has been a “news article” in the local newspapers written from a press release issued by Ford. I’ve noticed over the years these articles happen just before a big bad news event (layoff or earnings miss).

The latest: a person left Ford for Nike, but missed Michigan and came back to Ford!
How is that newsworthy?

Forewarned is forearmed.

Just an example of what DEI has done to employee morale. The company itself suffers as well.

I am part of the “old white guy” demographic and I don’t really give it much thought.
I treat everyone as a Ford employee and to I conform to the culture that pays me to do so.
Any other consideration is irrelevant.

The majority of the company is still, has been and will always be white male.

Not in Ford’s engineering departments. White men, especially over 50 years old, are extremely rare.

Wishing someone who is different to you that horrible fate speaks to the deep rooted flaw in your character. I'm a black woman and was laid off long ago. The majority of the company is still, has been and will always be white male. I'm glad to be out of a company that contains people like you.
