Id like to smoke whatever they are smoking to be convinced to come into Dearborn for this company that is probably either going to fire me or lay me off in a few months or go bankrupt

If Ford can’t lure people to relocate to Dearborn, in a fair market, they would have to offer more money. That’s what’s supposed to happen. But they don’t have to. They can import people for foreign countries, countries that would never let an American take one of their jobs.
I think if you are going to relocate for a job...any job..you should plan ahead enough, know the area enough. make sure you have a path to another job / industry if things don't work out. I wouldn't relocate with Ford, or any other job, as your only plan. You and your family deserve better.
You say this and then complain about immigrants taking your jobs. Go to any university and ask the foreign students there if they’d be willing to relocate to Dearborn to take a job in a fortune 100 company.
Every corporate company in America has to revisit their current business state and make adjustments if it is necessary every year. This is how in America businesses handle their affairs.
It is business as usual. Stop crying and get to work.
My neighbor had relocated from Seattle, then got laid off a few months after. He was the only provider for his family, which included his wife and a newborn. Good thing he was only renting. He went back to Seattle. Never relocate.
Relocating for a job implies there is going to be a job. And a job in America is something Ford cannot guarantee, with all the layoffs and outsourcing going on.
I’d relocate to Dearborn to work a Ford. It’s an awesome company! With your attitude, sounds like your position will be available for me!
You gotta remember there are a lot of big engineering schools in the Midwest. People who already live in Michigan, Indiana, or Ohio usually don’t have an issue relocating to Dearborn. The issue has been drawing software talent to the Midwest from the west coast. IMO we should outsource most of that stuff anyway, Silicon Valley can do it better than the second-rate, state school, 3.0GPA graduates we recruit now
