Thread regarding Staples Inc. layoffs

Something is in the air…

Who has the inside info? We know November is around the corner, but, something is very off right now. A lot of uncertainty going around with who is next to go with inside/outside sales. Share what you know here

I'm praying for a lay off. This is not the Staples I loved. I'm in Canada ,so I would get a decent severance after over 20 years.

AI ( artificial intelligence) is REAL and coming soon. The plan for updating the HRIS have been moving since early 2020. The more they find out about the capabilities and how many “humans” they can replace.

SP has taken a look at the figures to prepare the company to be sold. They’ve been here too long and are ready to get out! JL has gotten rid of or forced good C level and other leadership to leave. Some may have needed to go to be honest.

We are just a few months away before they eliminate the “Human” campaign. It will be forgotten just like folks in November. So let’s be excited about the new slogan coming up in 2025! Hooray!

Fact: it always happens around the holidays. Scrooge LIVES!

I am looking after over 15 years with promotions, exceeding performance reviews at year end (with bonus) and outstanding performance from my team! I love my position and being a mentor to my team. I feel like a hypocrite telling them there is a future when I don’t see one.. We hit our numbers with record profits, but it won’t matter once AI is in place.

I was offered a position after my internship at age 24. If only I could go back and tell my younger person not to do this for one company who is not loyal to those who bleed Staples Red“. My parents encouraged me to find a good company and stick with them. Now my niece and nephew tell me “ If you’re not getting what you need in two or three years get out!”

Get your resumes out there, reach out to former coworkers, reach out to your LinkedIn contacts and start interviewing!

Stop complaining about being here and do something about your next step and getting THERE!

If BTS is not a grand slam home run, which at this point it’s looking like it won’t even be a bunt single, 300+ stores will close between November and end of January, on the Retail side.

This is true about ranking their employees. I was with a group that a certain leader that blew our boss so hard it was like Cat 5 hurricane showing up on a teams call. OH HEELLLLLLLLOOOO!!! Gey. That person is still there dying a slow death and I’m free to actually go somewhere that appreciates me. We had such poor leadership that loved their friends but cut the top people. Blow it baby. Blow it harder to save your job.

Managers have to rank their employees. So if you don’t su-k bosses old di-k, you will be cut.

Not sure if anyone else is thinking the same. They stopped “sales celebrations” and will continue them in November. If that’s not the most clear way of saying “layoffs” are coming… and I’ve heard there is a hiring freeze.
