Thread regarding Fidelity Investments layoffs

Am I imagining things or does it seem like BAs do a lot of the work here?

It seems it’s much harder to glide on by as an incompetent BA compared to other roles

Is this sarcasm or are you serious? BA’s don’t do jack squat and just bother developers once a week to fill out their PowerPoint slides to check a box and then go back into the abyss.

It's maddening how siloed organizations are and how differently they are all run. When agile was introduced ( Spotify model) systems analysts in my organization were told code and become a full stack engineer or go to another group or a different role if you don't like it ( or leave) So, they lost people who had system/IT knowledge and domain knowledge or forced them to learn to code or go back to coding if they didn't want to. In some cases, some people were terrible at it and it caused problems. It was chaos and delusional to think people can just pick up coding or be on call because their job title changed. I wonder how it is for business analysts now - are they or have they been shoe horned into roles they don't want ? It's not the same across all orgs and that makes it even more maddening - I was told I couldn't do straight System Analyst work anymore in my group and yet they continued running LEAP systems analyst classes. Didn't feel fair and it caused alot of resentment with me and others in my group

They still have BAs? Thought they all became SL, CL or CAL and hung out in the cafeteria all day 😳😀
