They just announced that they’re selling MMM and NCS to Circana. What do you think? Good news/bad news?

Just keep out for a little company troll who goes by the name Ash.
Is the sale closed yet? Saw a few posts promoting Nielsen MMM again. Thought the deal was closed in Q4.
I’ve been through several mergers and layoffs always happen after one. Maybe not immediately, but definitely.
Just don’t be surprised and keep looking for other opportunities.
It's good news for employees in those businesses. Any owner is better than the PE sharks running Nielsen. For everyone else they are peripheral businesses and it doesn't really matter.
Circana already has competing products. They are buying these products to shut them down/reduce competition.
Just taking time to find buyers. Is Scarborough next? Then Gracenote? Then Audio? Then...
Could care less about any of it. Let the ship sink already.
What would be interesting to know is if Circana will have direct access to the Nielsen ratings/GRP data of advertiser linear TV skeds that used to be commonly used in MMM. I know that Nielsen at one time was very stingy allowing outside companies performing MMM to use their IP ratings data as inputs. In fact I believe they used to charge outside companies in order to do so.
I am sure Circana is on board w/ the GCC. Nothing to see here.

Marketing Mix Modeling. This was a core capability for years for Nielsen prior to the breakup of Nielsen and NielsenIQ.
Nielsen Catalina Solutions - they build Advertising effectiveness solutions.
Agree with previous posters. Huge acquisition for Circana if they can successfully capitalize on it and integrate it.
Can only speak on the MMM part as I’m not familiar with NCS. Basically another company bought the whole business of MMM along with the technology, process, clients, employees and expertise. The sale is supposed to close by the end of the year, and according to todays calls the employees are supposed to be employed for at least a year by the new company on the same terms as now. After that it’s open season. The whole McKinsey strategy was communicated to them along with everything else so while everything will continue “business as usual” so will the move to the 3 Global Centers in Mexico, India and Poland (probably). They are supposed to put everything in place so that people employed by Nielsen all over the world are able to continue employment as the buyer doesn’t have offices worldwide as Nielsen does, so the whole HR process is being worked out together at this point. After a year though, not much is certain. We are supposed to have an opportunity to talk to Circa execs and scope out the “culture and values”.
To be fair it can't get worser than Nielsen. This acquisition is a god send
Truthfully, I read his email and have no idea what it means. Anyone care to explain it to me like I'm 5? :')
Would people currently work on MMM be safer or riskier to layoff? Nielsen MMM is still profitable and has big clients in the US…
gives Circa a huge advantage in the marketplace as IRI already has a substantial MMM and Sales Lift business. If I am not Data Science talent at NCS, I would be concerned about the security of my job.
What is MMM and NCS?
